The array headset is a piece of apparel added by the Biotech DLC.

Acquisition

Array headsets can be crafted at a Machining table once the Standard mechtech research project has been completed. They require Steel 50 Steel, Component 8 Components, 2,100 ticks (35 secs) of work, and a Crafting skill of 5.

Summary

The airwire headset increases a mechanitor's bandwidth by +6.

Does not count as clothing for nudity.

Analysis

A strict upgrade to the airwire headset, providing 3 more bandwidth, costing 4 components more to create. The array headset also has a higher research cost, requiring you to defeat a diabolus first.

The mechcommander helmet gives the same, +6 bandwidth, but requires both plasteel and a diabolus' signal chip to create. The benefit of the mechcommander helmet is the protection it gives, roughly equal to a steel flak helmet while also giving some bandwidth. However, it may be desirable to save the signal chip until you can create a bandwidth pack (which requires 2 chips). The bandwidth pack occupies a different slot, and unlike headsets and helmets, it never deteriorates.
