A psychic foil helmet reduces a pawns Psychic Sensitivity by 90%. This means it has an modifies the effect of certain psycasts, psychic drones, and artifacts such as psychic shock lances and psychic insanity lances.
It's a niche item primarily useful to reduce the mood impact of psychic drones, especially on your psychically sensitive colonists, but can also have some worth protecting pawns from psycasts, especially in a melee where friendly fire is possible. Note that when worn by psychically dull pawns, it will make them completely immune to the most psychic effects, just as a psychically deaf pawn would be.

Despite being called a helmet, its protection is comparable to a bowler hat and only one of low-mid tier materials. It only blocks minimal damage and, with its low HP, wouldn't last very long either. Quality does not affect its psychic protection, so an Awful foil helmet blocks psychic effects just as well as a Legendary foil helmet.
