Eating is a pawn capacity: A character's ability to eat. Eating is a function of a human's or animal's health, affected by Consciousness, the jaw, tongue, and neck.

Eating and manipulation are the two determining factors of the Eating Speed stat.

Eating is not affected by stomach efficiency or digestion; these factors independently affect the ability to use nutrition to satisfy hunger. Moving can severely restrict a creature's ability to move to nearby nutrition but are also independent from eating. Sight does not affect eating nor a creature's ability to find available nutrition.

Factors

Base Factors

The following factors affect Eating:

  • Consciousness: 100% importance, no allowed defect. No Max
  • Jaw part efficiency. 100% importance, no allowed defect. No Max (effectively 125%).
    • Denture: 80% part efficiency resulting in −20% eating.
    • Bionic jaw: 125% part efficiency resulting in +25% eating.
    • Tongue part efficiency. 100% importance, no allowed defect. No Max (effectively 100%).

Post factors

The following factors affect Talking. They are applied after the Base Factors and offsets (if there was any).

  • Food poisoning:
    • Initial: ×0.5
    • Major: ×0.3
    • Recovering: ×0.5
      • Note that food poisoning also penalizes Consciousness, so the effective penalty is greater than this would suggest.

Since consciousness is effectively maxed out to 170%, eating effectively ranges from 10% (absolute minimum) to 212.5%, with a bionic jaw installed on top of maximum consciousness.
