Minimum Comfortable Temperature is a stat: Below this temperature, characters will be unhappy.
Significantly below this temperature, they will develop hypothermia and frostbite and eventually die. Its minimum allowed value is -2,000 °C (-3,568 °F) (effectively limited to -277.204 °C (-467 °F)). Its maximum allowed value is 2,000 °C (3,632 °F) (effectively limited to 21 °C (69.8 °F)). Its default value is 0 °C (32 °F). Note that the default value is only used when it is not defined for species and that the listed effective bounds are for humans. Also note that lower minimum comfortable temperatures are better.
Base value[edit]
The default base value for humans is 16 °C (60.8 °F). The collapsed table below shows the minimum and maximum temperatures of all pawns Any unique temperature mechanics will be described on their individual pages.

- ^1 Note: Despite having a minimum and maximum comfortable temperature defined, mechanoids are unaffected by temperature extremes.
- ^2 Note: Unlike most pawns, insectoids do not experience hypothermia and death from low temperatures and instead experience hypothermic slowdown.
Factors[edit]
There are three ways to decrease a pawns minimum comfortable temperature: Apparel, Genes, and the Inhumanized Hediff. Note that insulation from apparel and the Inhumanized Hediff do not affect whether a pawn receives the "Slept in the cold/heat" mood penalty, but the effects of genes do.
Apparel decreases minimum comfortable temperature by its Insulation - Cold which is modified by its quality, and if stuffable by the insulation factor of the material from which it is made. Apparel will never increase a pawns minimum comfortable temperature, so it is not necessary to remove clothing to make a pawn more comfortable. See Insulation for further details.
There are 5 genes that affect a pawn's minimum comfortable temperature:
- Cold weakness gene : +5 °C (9 °F)
- Cold tolerant gene : −10 °C (18 °F)
- Cold super-tolerant gene : −20 °C (36 °F)
- Furskin gene : −10 °C (18 °F)
- Furry tail gene : −10 °C (18 °F)
There is one hediff that affects a pawn's minimum comfortable temperature:
- Inhumanized −16 °C (−28.8 °F)
Analysis[edit]
The absolute lowest comfortable cold comes from these factors:
- Default value for humans: 16 °C (60.8 °F)
- Legendary guinea pig fur parka: −136.8 °C (−246.2 °F)
- Legendary guinea pig fur tribalwear: −37.62 °C (−67.7 °F)
- Legendary guinea pig fur tailcap : −34.2 °C (−61.6 °F)
- Legendary guinea pig fur formal vest : −27.36 °C (−49.2 °F)
- Legendary megasloth wool face mask : −1.224 °C (−2.2 °F)
- Cold super-tolerant gene : −20 °C (36 °F)
- Furskin gene : −10 °C (18 °F)
- Furry tail gene : −10 °C (18 °F)
- Inhumanized −16 °C (−28.8 °F)
Total: -277.204 °C (-467 °F)
